Coin Door Refurbishing Tutorial

So you managed to get yourself a used coin door for cheap, but it looks like complete ass. Likely as not it's all scratched up, or someone tried to break into it. Here's what you can do.

I'm using a smaller door, off a Defender cocktail as an example. However, most tips and tricks within will work with most doors.

Here you can see the door before any work has been done to it. Note the finish has no lustre to it. It's scratched up, and has dings in it.

Here's the back. Note the tarnishment of the brass, and the corrosion.

First thing we need to do is completely disassemble the door. After that, off to the kitchen sink, where the parts get scrubbed with a brush and dish detergent. Why detergent? Most doors are old. 20 years, 10 years, whatever. Lots of fingers touch them during that time. Fingers leave dirt and oil. It's not pretty.

The first thing I like to concentrate on is the door itself. We could sand off the coating, but I prefer a chemical method.
