Downloaded this new theme. Hated the old one. What does everyone think?
Sarah’s account, want to know how it shows up.
Now running Wordpress 2.0.2, and hopefully the end of being cracked.
To my friendly crackers: come one guys, give me a break here, huh? Try to crack something someone WANTS to see cracked. Like NAMBLA or something.
Site was cracked *again*. Have to get some more security measures on the site. PITA!
On another note, a couple years back I lost a bunch of family photos on a crashed hard drive. Needless to say, we were pretty upset.
Good news is I managed to recover them last night! Found a nifty program that allowed me to retrieve all my data!
So interesting to see those old pictures again. I’ll have to see what I can do to post them in the Gallery.
I updated the DVD List to show what I have, as it’s TERRIBLY outdated (by like five years, or something). I had no idea I have over 175 DVDs!
After being hacked last month, it was time that I started thinking very seriously about the software that renders the site. So…
Presenting Wordpress. It’s basically an upgraded version of what I’ve been running all along. When I’m done, you won’t be able to tell the difference between the old site and the new, but it’ll run much *much* smoother.
Each post has a ‘category.’ Life, rants, website (like this is a website category post). Haven’t introduced a new one for quite some time, although I’ve been thinking about this one for quite some time.
The new category is ‘Movie Reviews.’ And to kick things off, my next post will be just that.
My sister has forced me to bring you this link:
She has stated that unless I link to this site, she will withhold all my birthday presents. And she may even key my car.
(all right, no, none of that’s true)
Well, we’re on a new server. Everything’s been migrated with the exception of the Gallery. Couple issues with getting that working.
And it turns out that we’ll be moving *again* shortly, to a better server. Just got the word.
Added yet *another* webcomic, Rob And Elliot. Link on the left.
Just added a new webcomic link. Something Positive, right there on the left. Kinda cool, check it out.
We’ve been on this new server for a couple weeks now, but have been cludging thru getting the database up and running.
On the old server, I had four databases providing the content you’re seeing now. I’m limited to only one now, aparently.
I don’t *think* it’ll be that bad. I just have to make some changes to the database backups. This part of the site is up, but the Mame Projects site is not. Hopefully, I’ll get that back up shortly.
Edit: well, that *was* easy. Less than five minutes work, actually!
I just found the coolest video of a robotic police officer. Check it out!
Edit: regrettably, I had to take it off the server. It was taking up a bunch of space I needed for something else.
We’re on a new server now, and it was a fairly easy move. The gallery was down for a while, but should be back in full force now. You might get an error message from time to time, but it should not repeat on a particular picture. Enjoy!
Minor edit: still having problems. Anyone can view the images, but I can’t add any new images. Still working on that.
Finally fixed the gallery, everything should be back to normal now. Hopefully. If not, drop me an email and let me know what’s cocked.
I must certainly remember to back up the website…and often.
We’re back from the dead…again. Hopefully it will be years before it happens again.
I’ve got a lot of maintenance to do. The gallery currently isn’t working, I’ll tackle that today. Hopefully it will be simple.
Had to take the site down for a few hours last night. There was a huge electrical storm in the area, and as I had already lost computer parts in the last storm, I didn’t want to lose any more. I unplugged the cable.
Speaking of eBay auctions, we’ve put up a bunch more. Find the page with all the auctions here.
We’ve put some Carter’s Clothes up on eBay. Find the link right here. Bid well, bid often.
Lemme tell you…never try to install packages on a production machine.
I’ve been playing with a package for a bit, PHPNuke, and haven’t been able to get it to run. I finally gave up, and now use B2 instead. Works quite well. If I had wanted to, I could have made the site look exactly the same as the old site, but internally different.
That’s pretty much the way it is right now, but I changed some colors, got rid of that silly ’survey’ and made the menu choices larger.
The overall result is great! I can update from wherever I am in the world, as long as there is an Internet connection.
Anyway…I went to update a couple outdated packages, forgetting that one package usually has something either depending on it, or it depends on something else…and sure enough, I broke the damn thing. It’s been down since about 22:00 last night. Since the web server is in the bedroom, and everyone (read: my wife) was sleeping, there was no way I was going to wake her to update.
It was mostly simple; remove the new packages, downgrade to the old packages. I will update everything soon, when Slackware releases their final version of Slackware 9.0.
Next thing to learn: how to back up MySQL databases. Luckily, it looks like plopping it back into the directory worked, as you’re reading this. Next time…I don’t think I’ll be so lucky.
