PETA

Ξ April 20th, 2005 | → Comments Off | ∇ Rant |

Recently I’ve become acutely aware of the rights of animals. I don’t know what happened, but suddenly I’ve realized that a lot of what happens to animals is just wrong.

It started off with my looking at healthy choices for food. I’ve nearly cut out dairy from my diet (though I’m still eating cheese, and not much at that). Meat wasn’t far behind. You certainly get more than enough protein from plant sources. Fact is, Americans eat too much protein, causing calcium depletion, an increased strain on the kidneys and a multitude of other ill effects.

So now I’ve been browsing the PETA website, finding all sorts of interesting film clips, like this little gem. Proof positive that mankind is truly evil. Jennifer Lopez aparently has a line of wear that has a lot of fur. I didn’t like her much before, and I like her less now.

What about baby seals? Cute, adorable baby seals. let’s club some! Just bash in their little heads.

Even Sarah has gotten into the game. Ever the one for a steak, a roast beef sandwich, or KFC, a lot of our thinking has changed rapidly.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a vegetarian, there’s never been a better time! PETA has a free ‘vegetarian starter kit‘ that contains some literature (along with some tasty recipes) and a short DVD containing PETA TV commercials, a short video detailing ten reasons why becoming a vegetarian is a good idea, and one other thing (which I forget, I haven’t watched the whole thing yet).

Donnie Darko

Ξ April 3rd, 2005 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Movie Reviews |

I’d heard absolutely nothing about this movie, other than it was supposed to be really good. I wasn’t disappointed.

Donnie Darko is a troubled sixteen year old guy, who suddenly starts being visited by a six foot tall rabbit, who tells him that the world is going to end, and gives him an exact figure of when that’s going to happen.

The movie is full of mystery. All the while you’re thinking ‘is this really going on, or not?’

Filled with practically an all star cast, the film has some suprising faces, such as Patrick Swayze, Noah Wyle and Drew Barrymore.

The ending was not what I expected, although it seems to be the only one to make any sense.

Since this is my first review on this site, I’ll go with the time tested ’star rating.’ I rate Donnie Darko 4 1/2 stars. Now to find a way to make that graphical…

New Category

Ξ April 3rd, 2005 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Website |

Each post has a ‘category.’ Life, rants, website (like this is a website category post). Haven’t introduced a new one for quite some time, although I’ve been thinking about this one for quite some time.

The new category is ‘Movie Reviews.’ And to kick things off, my next post will be just that.
