Riley!

Well, this certainly has been an interesting month (and change).

We found the sex of our baby. It’s a boy! Riley Allen Peale will be his name. It’s really interesting, as there have not been two Peale men in the family since like 1830.

The weather in particular has been quite interesting. We were beseiged by 95? weather for close to a week. Then a cold front blew through, bringing 20? weather (and snow! lots of snow! when it had just been 95?!). And then there was the earthquake. Yes, an actual earthquake, right here in New England, epicentered in Plattsburgh, NY.

I was sitting on the couch watching TV, and had just woken up. When the shaking started, I was thinking, “wow! The downstairs washing machine is really off balance!” As it got worse, Sarah calls from the bedroom, quot; Why is the house shaking?"

Having been through the last earthquake (in 1983, no less) I realized what it was, although improbable. "It’s an earthquake! Get into the door frame!" and I ran to get Slayton.

Luckily, it stopped several seconds later.

On the job front, I’ve been ‘awarded’ another warehouse facility to schedule for. I’m now the scheduler for the ‘York,’ PA. York is in quotes, because it’s not really in York, it’s in York county. It’s really in a town called Emigsville (or something close to that). I don’t particularly like scheduling for this facility, as I’ve been so used to Aberdeen. Aberdeen is quite simple. Two eight hour shifts, about 22 trucks a shift. York is 20 a day. But the problem lies in what’s called ’service level.’ That’s the amount of food we supply to a customer, vs what we don’t supply. When a customer orders something, if we don’t have it in stock, we have to bend over backwards to make sure they get it. This is okay. Its when there is no longer any appointment time to give to the truckers, and the warehouse complains that you’re ‘overburdening’ them with trucks that it gets frustrating.

Ah, well, I’ll live. It could be much worse. I could be unemployed, living in GREENLAND!
