Had the worst time with a shipper over the last few days.
Bought some blank CD’s for the CD Burner
I’ve ordered. I bought them from onvia.com. I haven’t had a problem with this merchant, they shipped quite prompty, overnight, for free. This was great!
The problem started with the shipper, Airborne. I ordered on Friday, and a Saturday ship was promised.
Well, Saturday we received a huge snowstorm. The driver, wisely, decided to head back to base due to the storm. Airborne called, explained what happened. This was fine, as I didn’t want anything to happen to someone just to deliver some blank CD’s. They explained that they’d deliver
on Tuesday, as Sunday was New Years Eve, and Monday was New Years Day. That was fine.
Tuesday came, and Tuesday went. No package. Not even a phone call. I called the very next day and was told that the driver was new and had gotten lost. Not to worry, they said, it will be there tomorrow.
Tomorrow came, and tomorrow went. I called that evening, around seven, and the manager of that depot explained that he’d been having problems with that particular driver. He himself was driving that route tomorrow, and he’d deliver it himself personally early the next morning.
The next morning came and went. Around two in the afternoon I called, again, to confirm delivery. They said they’d page him. Finally, somewhere around three, the package arrived at my door.
That was the problem I had with Airborne. Now, today, with FedEx, another problem. Before new years, I ordered some ValueRAM from outpost.com Again, this company delivered quite promptly. The package was delivered a couple days later via UPS.
Where does FedEx come into play here? Well, I had problems installing the RAM. So, I called Kingston technical support for assistance. They told me that I probably had a bad module, and would send one out overnight for me. What a nice gesture!
While I was waiting for my CD’s, I kept checking the front door. There was a sign for the AIRBORNE man to drop the box taped to the front door window. Next to that, I found a slip stating that FedEx attempted delivery, and would try again tomorrow. Attempted? Bullshit. I’d been there the entire day. No one knocked, no one rang the bell.
A call to the FedEx customer service line later, and I was told I’d have a delivery re-try for the same day, but there were no promises that it would be there that day. An hour and a half later, I see a FedEx van pull into the driveway. So, I throw on a shirt, and go down to meet him.
The man was quite rude. He snottily said that he couldn’t leave the package because it required a signature, and there was no doorbell. I replied that the doorbell was beneath the sign for the AIRBORNE delivery service. The sign quite clearly stated, ‘AIRBORNE: LEAVE PACKAGE HERE.’ It did not say FedEx leave package here, or Aunt Jemimah leave package here, or God leave package etc, etc.
Well, this rant is long.
Updated the DVD list, and, of course, buy some stuff.
